I thought a wider audience might enjoy the following virtual walks that I’ve shared on YouTube in recent years. They include trails at the Lickey Hills Country Park near Barnt Green, as well as further afield at the Waseley Hills and Clent.
You can use them to exercise while it’s wet/dark outside, whether on your treadmill, walking pad, exercise bike, or even just walking on the spot. You might also use them to explore possible routes and find inspiration for your next hike.
- This video starts on one of my favourite local paths, through classic Lickey pine woods. On the map here it is the lesser dashed line to the west of the main Cofton Hill ridge path. We are joining it from the south, just after the left turn from the steps. We then head towards the Visitor Centre and Bilberry Hill.
2. Just for contrast, here’s a walk which covers the other side of Bilberry Hill towards Cofton Hill…. in autumn rain!
3. How could I not include a video of the Lickeys in the snow? This is from November 2024 – a surprise early taste of winter. The walk takes in Beacon Hill, the castle (toposcope), the woods… and of course the golf course sledging slopes:
4. Next is a walk around the Waseley Hills from May 2024. We start at Gunner Lane, and loop around the far north-west side, before heading back south:
5. Here’s one more Waseley walk from way back in June 2019… This is one of my most popular videos to date, with 58k views at the time of writing:
6. Finally, here’s a walk at the Clent Hills from May of last year (2025), taking in a hillside covered in a spectacular sea of bluebells – not in the woods, but right out in the open:
If you’d like to visit a playlist of all my walking videos then click here. I hope you enjoy watching them as much as I enjoyed recording them.
